Yes, I wash my sheets (almost) every week. So that leaves only one thing… the pillow. Pillows should be washed twice a year in commercial machines.

Home machines simply don’t extract enough water to ensure a clean and well rinsed pillow. If you’re sleeping with a down pillow, use powder detergent and warm water.

Liquid detergent can be
harder to rinse because it permeates the fabric and sticks to the feathers, and any soap left behind
becomes a magnet for dirt.

Using too much detergent, or the wrong kind of detergent, will cause dirt
build up and a need to wash the pillow more often.

Dry your down pillow on low or no heat with lots of
dryer balls. Be patient, this is going to take some time!

When Amy’s Laundry launders down pillows we
dry them for an hour and package them so that moisture does not recondense.

Memory foam pillow? Regrettably, you are out of luck. They cannot be laundered or steamed. Use a
good pillow protector and wash it frequently.

Polyester filled pillows are the easiest. Wash with warm water with as little detergent as possible (1 tsp
of liquid detergent should do it!). Then dry on low or no heat until they are fluffy and ready to go.

Dryer balls are your friends and will help to re-fluff your pillow.
